The month-long on-campus round of the international business idea competition’s Hult Prize was concluded on February 11 at University of Rajshahi’s Dean’s Complex.
The competition’s grand finals took place on Saturday, and team “Checkmate” advanced to the regional stage by winning the on-campus round with a solid finish.
The Hult Prize is an annual, prestigious competition for business ideas that encourages young people to use creative business models to address some of the world’s most serious problems. The winners of the global competition will get US $1 million as seed money. The Hult Prize is presented in cooperation with Education First and the Hult International Business School. The Hult Prize is active on more than 3000 campuses worldwide every year.
The challenge for this year’s Hult Prize competition is “Redesigning Fashion” with the idea of launching an innovative social venture in the clothing and fashion industry to make it more sustainable by 2030.
This year’s on-campus Hult Prize competition had 221 teams from the Rajshahi University campus. Along with trophies and certificates this year, Rajshahi University also provided prize money for the top 3 teams in the on-campus final round. The winning team received a prize money of 10,000 BDT, followed by payouts of 6,000 BDT for the first runner-up and 4,000 BDT for the second.
The Vice-Chancellor of Rabindra University, Prof. Dr. Shah Azam Ahantonu sir, Sadiqul Islam Sagar, an assistant professor in the law department at the University of Rajshahi, Dr. Nasrin Lubna, the head of the law department, and Rakin Uddin Chowdhury, the owner of the Address restaurant, were present for the closing ceremony’s special occasion.Abdullah Hill Nahian, digital communication and engagement manager for Banglalink Digital, Asaduzzaman, branch manager for Bergar Paints Bangladesh, and Mahir Ashef, community development executive for BD APPS-Robi Axiata Ltd. served as the judges for the on-campus competition’s final round.
Additionally, Team Rivals was declared the first runner-up for the Hult Prize at the University of Rajshahi’s on-campus program for 2022–2023, and Team Elite teammates were named the second runner-up.
The Hult Prize at the University of Rajshahi’s organizing committee, which was made up of 33 university students, coordinated this month-long event. The University of Rajshahi’s campus competition was organized by Ayesha Akter Asha, who served as campus director.
