Bangladesh has recorded the highest number of Covid cases in 24 hours (till 8am today), with 8,822 cases being reported along with 115 deaths.
A press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) states that the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has escalated to 14,503 and the mortality rate stands at 1.59 percent.The total number of Covid cases has also increased to 913,258, and current infection rate is estimated to be at 25.13%.
The only silver lining in the cloud is that 4,550 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, increasing the recovery percentage to 89.38%.25.13% of the 35,105 samples tested were positive for the virus over the preceding 24 hours.
Among the 115 citizens we have lost in the last 24 hours, 72 were men and 43 were women.58 of them were aged below 60, with four of them only being in the age range of 21 to 30. 12 aged between 31 and 40, 17 aged between 41 and 50,and 25 aged between 51 and 60 also lost their lives to the disease.The dreadful virus led to the demise of 57 senior citizens who were already battling with the trials and tribulations of old age post 60 years threshold.
