Eid-ul- Azha is expected to be celebrated in two weeks depending on the sighting of the crescent moon.
The railways ministry has decided to run special cattle trains for ferrying sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha amid a worsening Covid-19 situation in the country, reports UNB.
Shoriful Alam, senior information officer of the ministry, reported to the news agency on Tuesday that Bangladesh Railway will operate the cattle trains from 17-19 July. “Their numbers will vary every day, depending on the demand of the traders.”
Initially the train will commute from Dewan Bazar of Jamalpur to Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka.
Arrangements are being made for the transportation of cattles from Khulna and
Chapainawabganj.Special trains may also be operated to fulfil the demands of the cattle traders.
We are currently in the middle of a strict lockdown. With Covid cases and death rates breaking records every other day, especially after the detection of the Delta variant in Bangladesh, cattle farmers facing economic collapse is the last thing the country needs. So, the decision of operating a special train might come out as a relief to many cattle farmers.
