Bangladesh women’s football team has made it to the grand finale of the ‘Saff Championship 2022’ 6 years after 2016. The team has snatched this significant achievement for the second time in history after thrashing team Bhutan 8-0 in the first semi-final at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal on Friday.
Earlier, team Bangladesh booked a spot in the semi-final round as Group A champions by beating team Maldives (3-0), team Pakistan (6-0), and team India (3-0) respectively in the previous matches.
Team leader Sabina Khatun bagged another hat-trick in this year’s tournament after netting her first hat-trick earlier against team Pakistan. On the other side, Sirat Jahan Shopna, Rituporna Chakma, Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar, Masura Parvin, and Tahura Khatun scored one apiece. Sabina Khatun, who has 32 goals for Bangladesh together with the eight goals against Bhutan in the semi-final match, is now the top scorer of the regional tournament.
The victor Bengal tigress will be playing in the final round on September 19 against the winner of the second semi-final between India and Nepal.
